[SIC] Toledo Bend camping trip

Riders from [SIC] (scooters of Imperial Calcasieu) and SCGT will be camping at South Toledo Bend State Park October 2nd. Here’s a map. Linda from Augie’s Scooters has made arrangements for two cabins. Heres a few words from Linda:

Here’s the plan for our ride and overnite at the park:
  1. Charles and I will travel to South Toledo Bend State Park on Friday, October 1st, where we will take possession of the reserved cabins.
  2. On Saturday, October 2nd, we will scooter to meet everyone at 12 noon at the Junction Grocery in Junction, La.
  3. The Junction Grocery is the only business in that little community. Junction, La., is on Hwy. 190 approximately 14 miles west of DeRidder and about 5-6 miles east of Merryville, La. The grocery is right at the intersection of Hwy 190 and Hwy. 111. We went through Merryville en route to Newton, Tx for the ride on Hwy 1414 in late August.
  4. The rendezevous time at Junction Grocery is 12 noon, kickstands up by 12:15pm.
  5. Junction Grocery has gas, but no premium. They carry regular unleaded only. Recommend checking your fuel prior to arriving at the rendezevous point. Merryville has gas stations on Hwy 190. Henry’s service station on the west side of DeRidder on Hwy. 190 is the last opportunity to fill up coming from that direction.
  6. When we leave Junction we will ride north on Hwy 111 for 3 miles, then turn onto Hwy 464 and travel approximately 23 miles to Hwy 8. We will take Hwy 8 to Burr Ferry, then north on Hwy 111 and intersect Hwy 392 where we again turn west. Hwy 392 will take us to Hwy 191 and a short distance to South Toledo Bend State Park.
  7. There are two (2) places along this route that sell premium gasoline, one at Burr Ferry and another at the intersection of 111 and 392.
  8. The entire distance from Junction to our destination is approximately 48-50 miles, so fuel should not be an issue.
  9. After we arrive at the park we will be on our own until later in the evening when we’ll eat gumbo, the sit around and swap scooter stories, etc.
  10. There are two cabins, each with sleeping arrangements for 8 people: one room with 4 bunk beds; one room with a double bed; and, a fold out sofa. All linens are included, but you may want to bring your own towel.
  11. Charles and I will provide the evening meal Saturday and breakfast Sunday morning. We’ll have cold drinks, drinking water, coffee, etc. If I start feeling domestic, I may even make some dessert-type foods, who knows. No one should go hungry, though, I promise.
  12. We are required to vacate the cabins by 10Am Sunday, so that’ll be a good time to see a little of the area on the ride back home.

I think we’ll all have a great time and I hope to see all of you there. If you’d like to attend, talk to me (Paul) or Linda at Augies.
